There we go… I feel much better… it I was really getting hot (under her breath and bothered (horns re-appear)…in here before. Anyway… my sister claims I have Spring Fever…I mean… I have no idea…
Hello? Hey! Yeah, I called you before wondering…is there a beach we can go to later… maybe one that has a bunch of surfer dudes on it? What? This is California! Sorry about that.. where was I? Oh yeah… Spring Fever… my sister claims I have it.. so I looked at the term’s origin.
Spring Fever comes from the Old English word lenctenadle which means spring disease… Spring itself used to be called Lent… so lenctenadle was an extension of that.
By early spring, fruit stocks would have run low… and people would often get scurvy due to a deficiency of vitamin C… so they said that these people suffered from “spring disease” or lenctenadle.
Well, I don’t think I have that… so my sister cannot be talking about that.
Later on, people figured out how to avoid scurvy… and a couple of things happened:
- Lent from lengthening or lengthening of the days became springing time… or spring-time.. or just spring for short.
- Lenctenadle moved away from being a disease and it was then called spring-fever.
And since the people were no longer sick from scurvy, they started to actually enjoy the warm weather… even feeling a little frisky in the process… if you know what I mean? Which is what the term means today.
Well.. my sister CANNOT BE implying that I am feeling frisky

Oh… sorry about that… hmmm… maybe my sister was right!
