    Dan you should be very proud of that one. I have yet to dig one. My brother dug a 1783 half reale this summer though. My oldest american coin is a 1833 half dime. So you got me beat by 50 years. Congratulations.

    I’ve been wondering how that old coin came to be in that spot. Yeah, it certainly could have been dropped much later than when it was minted. I’m sure if that reale could talk, it would have quite a tale to tell. Thanks, Vespasian12345.
