Any single parent dating stories?

How has it been for you? I am a good guy, pretty d@m sexy (this is what ppl tell me and i do take great care of my body) I am responsible. But it seems as if kids really are a dealbreaker for most people. I am fine wiht it honestly sicne my kids give me all I need really. I would not trade my spot for the mothers spot for anything! (she is living free and single with no responsibilities…she gets the kids only 4 days out of the month and seems to be ok with it to live her single lifestyle) But I’d like to hear anyone else who is a single parent on how dating has been for you?
I’m not a single parent however I am the product of one’s raising.
My father is a devoted dad to all 4 of us.
Mother…not so much in the picture…and we kids prefer it that way
(she’s an addict who blames her life situtation on us kids)
he’s a good looking guy
got a nice tan and exercises regularly so always very fit
although idk the last time the man bought a new pair of jeans, and all his old ones have grass stains and rips from playing in the yard with us, lol
I don’t remember much about him dating after the divorce, we were young then…but I do remember after he found his next serious girl friend…
Dad has been trying for years to find someone right for him
and when at first he thought he found her
he was dating this woman for almost 7 years
she had three kids of her own from previous marriage
but it took dad 7 years to realize that she was just using him
they got engaged at one point, even bought a small house together
but she was really more into parties and bar hopping
so dad kinda became a single parent to her kids and us while they were together
eventually he realized he couldn’t live like that anymore
couldn’t "play house" so to speak
all 4 of us kids were so proud of him when he finally stood up for himself and said "marry me or its over- I’m tired of being strung along"
he ended up buying a better house across town and moving us 4 to it,
at which point she played like she wanted to marry him…really all she wanted was the better house
but luckily by then dad had her pegged and didn’t let her move in
although he still keeps in close contact with her children, since he really is the only parental figure those three kids have ever known
its been almost 3 years single since he broke it off with his "fiance"
he’s tried online dating
heck, he even has me check his grammar and give him girl advice when he’s planning to ask someone out on a date (since I’m his oldest daughter, we talk about everything)
and he’s had a few successful dates
even a couple girlfriends
one girlfriend he had for about 6 months
he broke up with her because she kept trying to change him, and because she wasn’t much interested in his kids
another girlfriend he had for a couple weeks
he broke up with her because she kept pressuring him to let her spend the night at our house, and he didn’t want a woman sleeping in our house whom he wasn’t married to since he hopes to teach the "wait until marriage" values to my youngest sister, and dad believes in teaching by example
honestly
its been hell on earth for him to try and date
we kids are all as supportive as we can be, we just want him to be happy
I can’t understand why such a good man seems to only attract these horrible women though…
and it doesn’t help that the town he lives in is all bars
so there’s not many places to find a woman who doesn’t drink in excess
dad tries to fill the void by coaching local peewee soccer
and he has a softball team he plays on every weekend
…basically he keeps himself busy
but really, we kids can’t be there for him forever
Being the oldest, I’m already moved out, married, in college, and expecting a baby of my own
My brother is a year younger than me and he just recently joined the army to pay for college
The next one up is 17 years old with only a year left of highschool
and after that the youngest is 15 so learning to drive and gaining a bit of independence
….dad raised us well, devoted so much love and care towards all of us, and to this day I still call him anytime I need advice (not gonna lie, about twice a week, I never thought I was a daddy’s girl until I moved out…we fought so much before I moved out but now I just miss him like crazy)
I pray everyday that my dad finds a woman who deserves him, because he’s such a good guy
and I really don’t want him to be lonely now that the nest is starting to empty
Unfortunately its hard out there
all the women who already have kids seem to have issues with his kids or just want him to watch their kids
all the women who don’t have kids seem to want kids and dad is in his 40′s- he wants to be done having kids
I wish you luck…it breaks my heart to see good fathers passed up in the dating scene, you are a rare breed
