Is it normal to become attracted to a friend of the opposite sex, when they become close to your kid(s)? like a father/mother figure?
we are friends and I find them attractive, but I never thought about them in that way until now.
Well, I’m a step mom, so I fell for a guy with a kid, as opposed to being the single parent with a kid, but should certainly think that this is totally normal behavior. I remember when we started dating that my boyfriend told me it was MORE important to him that I get along with his daughter than it is that I get along with him. My boyfriend’s cousin is a single dad, and when he talks about his girlfriend one of the first things he says about her is she is good with my son. Now both of these situations they found the girl, then introduced to the kid to see if we got along with them.
However, it makes sense. It seems natural to want to "father" figure in your child’s life. I really don’t know how to say what I’m trying to say here, but I’ll do my best, sorry if it doesn’t make sense. Even if the father is still in your kid’s life, it still makes sense to want him/her to have a father figure in your house for him I guess…kinda like an instive desire to raise your child WITH someone. Especially with someone that is going to try to be that male/female role model. Since you don’t get to see your child with the biological version? Did that come out right?
